FAQ

  • What is CPL and C-IPL? Are they different?

CPL (Calibrated Pulsed Light) is also known as C-IPL (Calibrated - Intense Pulsed Light).
This variation of light therapy is designed to be used safely and comfortably in the form of a handset at home. Think of it as a take away version of salon grade IPL, where you can use it anytime and anywhere without any professional help or additional costs.

  • What is the upgrade in the new SHERO C-IPL handset?

As per our users’ requests and feedback, the new SHERO C-IPL hair removal handset has energy that is stronger targeted than the old version; better and improved operating buttons; more flash counts; higher performance cooling fan; LCD screen to show the number of flash left and a whole new appearance!

  • How does it work?

Just like all light based treatments, C-IPL works by emitting a multi spectrum light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the pigments in the hair and quickly turns to heat. The heat then targets hair follicles responsible for hair growth, putting these follicles to sleep!

  • Is it safe?

The light wavelength emitted by SHERO handset is calibrated to 580nm-1100nm which is perfect for targeting hair follicles at the average depth. Harmful UV is filtered to protect your skin!

The light emitted by SHERO’s C-IPL device has been properly calibrated and refined from its light sourced hair removal predecessors.

  • Is it painful?

No pain! Only warm sensation. There are 5 levels of power intensity to choose from. New users can start by using level 1 and gradually increase up to level 5 according to their own comfort.

  • How long will it take before I start seeing results?

Most people begin to notice a reduction of hair growth and finer hair just after 6 - 8 weeks and significant difference after 8 - 12 weeks. We recommend users to use according to the guideline provided in the user manual.

Results may vary from person to person depending on the coarseness of hair, hormones and skin tones.

  • What area of my body can I use a SHERO handset on?

You can use your handset on ANY parts of your body, including your bikini areas and face as long as the skin tone is suitable (Refer to the skin tone chart below). Just be sure to NOT use it close or directly to your eyes.

  • Do I need to shave before using it?

Yes! You should shave the treatment areas before using your SHERO handset and keeping the hair length between 1-3mm before shero-ing it is best recommended.

This means NO waxing, plucking, threading or epilating because we do not want the entire hair root and follicles to be removed from the skin. If we remove them entirely from the skin, we will have to start the SHERO treatment from zero again. This is because new follicles will be formed to replace the ones that are removed from the skin.

As the goal is for light energy to reach the hair follicles quickly and efficiently without letting the energy go to waste to heat up the entire strand of hair; shaving removes the hair to an appropriate length!

  • Do I need to wear eye protection?

Our handsets have NO harmful UV rays and are fitted with a skin sensor where it will not flash unless the entire flash window is pressed against your skin. The brightness of the flash would be tolerable when you’re operating it in a lit room. That being said, you should never look directly into the light as it flashes. To further protect your eyes from the brightness, we provide eye protective glasses and recommend to wear them during treatment.

  • Does SHERO Hair Removal Handset work for all skin tones?
C-IPL is suitable for all but the darkest skin tone. This is because C-IPL’s light energy may be more attracted to the pigments in the skin rather than melanin in the hair. Skins with dense melanin is not advisable to use it.

Please refer to the skin tone chart to see if SHERO’s C-IPL is suitable for you. Skin Compatibility for CPL Hair Removal
